Gibran Khalil Gibran

January 6, 1883 – April 10, 1931 Born in 1883 in Lebanon, Kahlil Gibran moved to the United States in 1895 and was exposed to Boston's artistic community. Initially showing promise as an artist, he also began writing newspaper columns and books in Arabic, drawing attention for his prose poems. After moving to New York City, Gibran began writing books in English, including his most famous work, The Prophet (1923). The popularity of The Prophet endured well after the author's death in 1931, making him the third-best-selling poet of all time. Gibran wrote an open letter, in Arabic, to Lebanese parliamentarians in 1925, during the fall of the Ottoman Empire. His letter was titled ''The New Frontier''. In it, he states''Are you a politician asking what your country can do for you or a zealous one asking what you can do for your country? If you are the first, then you are a parasite; if the second, then you are an oasis in the desert.

John Abi Zaid

General John P. Abizaid is a former Hoover National Security Affairs fellow who took over as head of the U.S. Army's Central Command on July 7, 2003. Lebanese-American Abizaid assumed command from General Tommy R. Franks in a ceremony led by Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld in Tampa, Florida.

Ralph Nader

He is an American political activist, author, lecturer, and attorney, noted for his involvement in consumer protection, environmentalism and government reform causes. The son of Lebanese immigrants to the United States, Nader was educated at Princeton and Harvard and first came to prominence in 1965 with the publication of the bestselling book Unsafe at Any Speed, a highly influential critique of the safety record of American automobile manufacturers. Following the publication of Unsafe at Any Speed, Nader led a group of volunteer law students—dubbed "Nader's Raiders" In an investigation of the Federal Trade Commission, leading directly to that agency's overhaul and reform. In the 1970s, Nader leveraged his growing popularity to establish a number of advocacy and watchdog groups including the Public Interest Research Group, the Center for Auto Safety, and Public Citizen. Two of Nader's most notable targets were the Chevy Corvair and the Ford Pinto.

Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek is a Lebanese-Mexican that was born in Mexico to a Lebanese Father from the Hayek family and a Mexican mother. Hayek began her career in Mexican television soap operas in late 1980's. She traveled to Los Angeles after gaining success inUn Nuevo Amanecer and Teresa. Hayek acted in several movies but was most known for her role in Desperado (1990). Later, she played roles in Fools Rush In,Wild Wild West, Frida and Once Upon a Time in Mexico. She was the executive producer of the blockbuster Frida and portrayed the famous Mexican artist Frida Khalo in the lead role. She worked for eight years to see the role to its completion. She is considered to be the first Mexican actress to become a Hollywood movie star since Dolores Del Rio.
